Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 23/09/2008 18:04:27 People might support rebuilding the cemetery, but unless it's located deep in the sovereign space BoB, or located at the far fringes of northwest nullsec, there isn't the slightest chance that it will be safe from the Goons for more than a few days if they decide to war dec it again.
The only other option is to continuously rebuild it until the Goons get board and give up... but who are the real losers in that situation? The people who put in POS tower after POS tower, spending billions of ISK. That's who.
Originally by: Akita T NPC corp "keeper" that would have to go and open each and every can (that would have a non-dictionary-attackable password) at least once a month.
This idea lacks sand.
Originally by: Jacob Mei At first I was rooting for Azai but then I heard the pathetic password for all the containers and im guessing didnt have much if any of a defense. That and actually seemed to have believed goonswarm when they said the orginal attack was the work of a "rogue goon". Azai should have known that in EvE there is always someone looking to topple your sand castle.
I may be wrong, but I don't believe that the password for the cans was the same as for the tower's forcefield. Being able to open the cans had nothing to do with the fact that their protective shield was destroyed, and being able to open cans and retrieve corpses could hardly be called a serious flaw on Azia's part.

I can see your point, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. The cans were only accessible to people with access to the POS... or to people who destroyed it. The value of the can's contents cannot be measured in ISK, because there are no market statistics or high demand for corpses, so actually having a decent password on the cans wasn't important.
The Goons obviously didn't want the bodies to remain there, or they wouldn't have stolen them. If that assessment is correct, then they probably would have just destroyed the cans if they hadn't been able to crack the password.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 23/09/2008 19:27:30 Two dozen people in battleships that put out modest DPS (~500 each) should only take about a minute to kill each GSC IIRC. They do have a large amount of HPs, but not large enough to withstand the focused fire of a battleship gang.

No, you misinterpreted the issue. Goons didn't go too far, the whiners whined too much about the Goons. If in fact there have been nerfs attributed to Goon activity it's only because they wrecked the cozy make-believe world that certain bears believed themselves to be living in, which resulted in a mass forum exodus and whinefest.
Anything but exploits are fair game in Eve, or they should be. The faster that people get back to this core philosophy the fewer nerfs we'll see.

Originally by: Lady Valory The game is poorly thought out and coded and sometimes it takes 5-7 years in a massive game to expose the holes.
The jihad swarm was a perfect example, and I dont fault the goons for killing hulks.
In fact, every area of the game needs goons for the sole reason of poking the world apart so the devs can make it better in the end.
Anything that causes the Devs to nerf the unpredictable hostility of this game makes it worse in the end, not better. There are loads of other games out there where people don't have to put up with random acts of chaos. Eve does not need to be added to that list. Also see my post above yours.
